Obispo de Apartadó hace llamado urgente a Cancillería por caso de migrantes irregulares
Tras el aumento de ciudadanos migrantes irregulares que ingresan a diario al municipio colombiano de Turbo, fronterizo con Panamá, el obispo de Apartadó monseñor Hugo Torres Marín, lanzó un SOS a la Cancillería para que enfrenten cuanto antes esta crisis humanitaria.
“La situación en Turbo, Antioquia; Capurganá y Sabzurro, en el Chocó, es cada día más grave, necesitamos que la Cancillería responda”.
La preocupación, dice enfáticamente monseñor Torres Marín, es porque la Cancillería no se pronuncia sobre el tema, ni se avizoran soluciones, y la situación demanda una respuesta inmediata pues, explica, “ya hay afectaciones de orden público por la invasión de terrenos en los que los migrantes han hecho cambuches para vivir; por la indiferencia del Estado muchos de ellos son víctimas de robos de sus pocas pertenencias, y aunque la Alcaldía les proporciona agua, los alimentos los suministra la Pastoral Social a través de la atención humanitaria prestada por la iglesia, sin embargo es tal la magnitud del problema, que algunos grupos de laicos comprometidos también aportan para el sustento de estas personas”.
Así mismo, el sacerdote José Wilmar Medina, de la parroquia Nuestra Señora del Carmen, señaló que “es preocupante la indiferencia ante esta situación, en la cual los hermanos africanos son los que más sufren, pues el temor de la gente a pandemias como el ébola, el sida o enfermedades tropicales hace que no les permitan subirse a embarcaciones ni otros medios de transporte, y los obliga a emprender caminatas entre el monte”.
La situación es peor de lo que podría imaginarse, pues no solo son los migrantes estancados, también hay un flujo diario de entre 100 y 400 extranjeros irregulares; además un daño eléctrico tiene sin energía a Capurganá, población chocoana cuya temperatura habitual promedio es entre 32 y 35 grados centígrados, hecho que ha incrementado el precio de los alimentos que requieren refrigeración, pues para conservarlos se valen de energía producida por plantas eléctricas cuyo costo del combustible le suman al precio de los productos.
Esto, sin contar con que tanto Capurganá como Sabzurro, población vecina, que en total tienen unos 3.000 habitantes, solo cuentan con dos enfermeras que se encargan de la atención en salud. Tanto el obispo de Apartadó, Hugo Torres, como el padre Medina coinciden en afirmar que les “preocupa mucho esta indiferencia, la corrupción y las condiciones que están afrontando los pobladores de la zona, y los migrantes estancados”, por lo que reiteran su llamado urgente al Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores y a las autoridades competentes para que se apersonen de la situación, pues incluso ya se han presentado nacimientos de hijos de migrantes.
Esta grave situación en el municipio del Urabá antioqueño, se dio tras el cierre de frontera para inmigrantes, ordenado el pasado 9 de mayo por el presidente de Panamá. Desde entonces están llegando migrantes desde Cuba, Haití África y China, quienes “en busca del sueño americano”, esperan llegar a Estados Unidos pasando, entre otros países, por Colombia y Panamá, cifra que se ha incrementado, y según calcula la Iglesia en esa zona, sería de más de 1.500 personas varadas.
